The black and white dashed eighth inch markings show on both light and dark fabrics. The dashed 1" grid lines ensure accuracy when cutting pieces for miniature quilts. Refer to the black diamonds when cutting 1/8" units; the white diamonds when cutting 1/4" inch units. The ruler slides easily over the fabric until pressure is applied. Then, our exclusive gripper holds the fabric in place while cutting, eliminating slipping and miss-cuts!
